Currently watching Rescue Dawn. Christian Bale and Steve Zahn with beards, a helluva lot of weight loss and very little sanity. JUST THE WAY WE LIKE ‘EM.

I just walked past three men who look like every bearded man I reblog on here.

One of them looked like Calle Strand.

I looked at them. They looked back. I may have stopped walking, I can’t remember, it was all a blur.

Edit: I passed them again when I was PRing. I stared for longer.

This is ridiculous, but it’s been bugging me.

Okay, this is ridiculous, but I feel like I need to point out that no, actually, not everyone looks better with a beard.

I feel like a liar posting that and suggesting that I do think that and I would like to correct myself.

I have strict rules with beards. Strong jaw means no. Weak jaw, yes, beards are the thing for you. Michael Tapper ex-We Are Scientists, and most members of Kings of Leon are very good examples of this. You might notice that when someone shaves off their beard, they’re quite babyfaced. These are the facetypes that suit beards. If you shave your beard and still look like a man, then keep that beard shaved. Stubble is acceptable, even long stubble. And encouraged. Few people look better clean shaven than with at least stubble. Manly man faces with added beard is too much man and often results in ‘the serial killer’ look (see Joaquin Phoenix and Jon Hamm). If the bottom of your jaw is already wide, the beard then becomes wider then the rest of the face, even when it’s small. A weak chin means the beard can grow to a decent, respectable length before looking too out of proportion.

I cannot believe I just typed that.
